Yousof Hakemy

President and Chairman of the Board, Afghan Unity DFW.
Yousof Hakemy is a respected community leader and long-time advocate for the Afghan communities in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Born in Kabul, Afghanistan, he graduated from the Afghan Institute of Technology in 1984 and relocated to Dallas in 1986, where he joined his family’s ventures in retail and real estate alongside his three brothers. For more than 40 years, Mr. Hakemy has been deeply dedicated to community service, consistently supporting cultural events, social initiatives, and grassroots efforts to strengthen Afghan identity and cohesion. Over the past decade, he has taken on key leadership roles—serving on boards and leading initiatives aimed at fostering unity and empowerment within the Afghan diaspora. His tireless efforts reflect a lifelong commitment to uplifting his community.

Marouf Neck

Vice President and Vice Chair of the Board, Afghan Unity DFW.
Marouf Neck is a dedicated community advocate with a strong background in political science and multicultural engagement. Born and educated in Kabul, Afghanistan, he holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Kabul University before relocating to Germany in 1982. In 1989, he moved to Texas, where he has since established deep roots. Since 2010, Mr. Neck has been an active and passionate member of the Afghan community in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. He currently serves as Vice President of Afghan Unity, where he plays a vital role in promoting cultural preservation, community engagement, and Afghan solidarity across generations. Fluent in Dari, English, French, and German, Neck brings a broader perspective and a multilingual approach to his work—bridging communities and advocating for greater representation and collaboration within the Afghan diaspora.

Mari Mirzazada

Board Member, Afghan Unity DFW | Treasurer | Public Relations Specialist.
Mari Mirzazada is a well-known and respected figure within the Afghan community of Dallas–Fort Worth. Recognized for her exceptional public speaking skills, she often serves as the voice of Afghan Unity DFW in public announcements and community events. In addition to overseeing the organization’s social media outreach, Mari brings dedication and integrity to her role as Treasurer. In her financial leadership role, Mari volunteers her time to manage day-to-day financial operations, oversee budgeting and reporting, support fundraising initiatives, and ensure the accurate and timely filing of annual income taxes. Her commitment to transparency and accountability is key to the organization’s continued success and impact. Beyond her work with Afghan Unity DFW, Mari is also the host of Radio Azad in Dallas, using the platform to amplify Afghan voices, share community news, and foster cultural connection. Her passion for service and communication makes her a vital leader and advocate for the Afghan-American community.

Diana Neak

Board Member, Afghan Unity DFW | Public Relations | Social Media Specialist.
As a first-generation Afghan American, Diana’s life purpose has always been rooted in human rights, advocacy, and community empowerment. From her undergraduate years at the University of California- Davis, she actively championed global causes—founding an Afghan student association in Sacramento to engage Afghan American youth in giving back and building stronger ties within their communities. Her commitment to humanitarian work deepened during her time with UNICEF, where she spent a year supporting refugee resettlement efforts in the Middle East and Turkey. That transformative experience continues to shape her dedication to uplifting displaced and marginalized communities. Professionally, Mrs. Neak works in the blockchain technology sector, leading advancements in AI and emerging tech. She brings the same spirit of innovation, collaboration, and service to her role at Afghan Unity DFW—working to strengthen community connections, create meaningful opportunities, and inspire lasting, positive change across the Dallas–Fort Worth Afghan diaspora.

Mujtaba Zia, Ph.D.

Board Member, Afghan Unity DFW | Spokesperson| Advisor.
Dr. Mujtaba Zia is a respected and recognized leader within the Afghan community of Dallas–Fort Worth. An accomplished higher education professional and passionate advocate for community development, he brings a unique blend of academic excellence, cultural insight, and servant leadership to his role with Afghan Unity DFW. Dr. Zia holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of North Texas. He currently serves as an Associate Professor of Finance at the University of North Texas at Dallas, where he also directs the MBA and Master of Management programs. As the spokesperson for Afghan Unity DFW, Dr. Zia brings clarity, professionalism, and strategic vision to the organization’s public presence. Dr. Zia is a thought leader and serves on multiple community and educational boards, demonstrating a deep commitment to civic engagement and cross-cultural collaboration.

Abdullah Lalli

Board Member, Afghan Unity DFW | Community Leader | Event Supervisor. Abdullah Lalli is a dedicated community volunteer and former Afghan Air Force pilot. During his service in Afghanistan, he flew the Albatross L-39. Following the Russian invasion, he left Afghanistan to avoid bombing his fellow countrymen at the order of the Pro-Russian government. He immigrated to the United States in 1982, where he established and successfully ran his own business. Following his retirement, Mr. Laalli joined the Afghan Unity DFW at the invitation of his longtime friend, Yousof Hakemy, to give back to the Afghan community. He has since been an active volunteer, bringing his leadership, discipline, and lifelong commitment to service to the organization. In addition to his work with Afghan Unity, Abdullah also volunteers at the Plano Food Bank and the Allen Mosque, reflecting his deep dedication to humanitarian service and community support.

Najibullah Aminyar, J.D., Esq.

Board Member, Afghan Unity DFW | Attorney | Legal Advisor.
Najibullah Aminyar is a rising legal professional and young leader within the Afghan community of Dallas–Fort Worth. A licensed attorney in the state of Texas, he earned his law degree from Texas A&M School of Law and currently practices at a prominent law firm, where he brings dedication and integrity to his work. Mr. Aminyar also serves as an ambassador for No One Left Behind, a national organization of veterans and military professionals advocating for U.S. allies—particularly those who served alongside American forces in Afghanistan. His deep understanding of Afghan cultural and social issues informs his work both in and outside the legal field. An active supporter of Afghan Unity DFW, Mr. Aminyar regularly contributes to events and initiatives that promote community engagement, cultural preservation, and refugee support. Through both his legal career and community service, he is committed to empowering the Afghan diaspora and advocating for those who have served and sacrificed.

Ibrahim Masumi (Agha Saheb)

Board Member, Afghan Unity DFW | Community Elder | Cultural & Religious Advisor.
Ibrahim Masumi, affectionately known as Agha Saheb, is one of the earliest Afghan settlers in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and a deeply respected elder within the community. Originally from Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, he is known for his profound knowledge of Islamic teachings, Afghan history, and cultural traditions. Fluent in both Farsi and Pashto, Mr. Masumi plays a vital role in uniting diverse members of the Afghan diaspora through his active participation in religious gatherings, cultural events, and community initiatives. His wisdom, humility, and long-standing commitment to service have made him a trusted advisor and source of guidance for generations of Afghan families in the region. As a board member of Afghan Unity DFW, Mr. Masumi continues to support efforts that preserve heritage, promote unity, and strengthen the spiritual and cultural fabric of the community.

Ashraf Hotak, M.D.

Board Member, Afghan Unity DFW | Physician | Community Volunteer.
Dr. Ashraf Hotak is a board-certified medical doctor and a dedicated member of the Afghan community in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Despite the demands of his medical career, he remains actively involved in supporting Afghan Unity DFW through volunteer work and community engagement. Dr. Hotak contributes his time as a language assistant and event supporter, helping to foster unity and connection among Afghan families across the region. His consistent involvement and willingness to serve—particularly during community events and outreach efforts—reflect his deep commitment to cultural preservation and social responsibility. Balancing professional excellence with meaningful community service, Dr. Hotak plays a vital role in strengthening the mission and impact of Afghan Unity DFW.

Farhad Farahmand

Board Member, Afghan Unity DFW | Volunteer Supervisor.
Farhad Farahmand is a dynamic and emerging leader within the Afghan community of Dallas–Fort Worth. Since 2021, he has been actively involved in supporting the resettlement of newly arrived Afghan refugees, playing a hands-on role in their day-to-day needs. Farhad oversees the employment placement and workplace integration of more than 100 Afghan individuals, helping to build strong employer–employee relationships and easing the transition into the workforce. Widely respected by peers, friends, and community members, Farhad is known for his tireless dedication and compassion. He has served as a volunteer supervisor at Afghan Unity DFW’s annual picnic and various community events, consistently stepping up to create welcoming and supportive environments for newcomers. With a deep sense of altruism, Farhad is committed to fostering growth, stability, and opportunity for Afghan refugees and the younger generation, helping them build a strong foundation for the future.

Faizanullah Saeed

Board Member, Afghan Unity DFW | Outreach Specialist | Refugee Support.
Faizanullah Saeed is a committed community leader and advocate for refugee support, bringing a diverse background in banking, nonprofit work, and social services. Originally from Kunar Province, Afghanistan, he holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bakhtar University in Kabul. Faizanullah began his career at Afghanistan International Bank and later worked with RSHQ/NATO, gaining valuable experience in operations and client service. After arriving in the U.S. in 2021, he quickly became involved in supporting newly arrived Afghan families—helping them access essential services like food assistance, Medicaid, and Social Security. He continued this mission through his work with ICNA Relief while also serving as a Finance Manager at a private company. In 2024, Faizanullah joined Afghan Unity of DFW, where he remains dedicated to empowering Afghan refugees, building community connections, and helping families rebuild their lives with dignity and support.

Khesraw Saied

Board Member, Afghan Unity DFW | Community Organizer | Cultural Bridge-Builder.
Khesraw Saied is a dynamic and respected community leader, widely recognized for his dedication to fostering unity and organizing cultural events among Afghans in the Dallas–Fort Worth area—particularly those from the northern provinces of Afghanistan. His deep cultural insight and multilingual background are rooted in his life experiences in both Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. Born in 1971 in Mazar-i-Sharif, Khesraw relocated to Uzbekistan in 1991, where he successfully ventured into entrepreneurship and business. In 2008, he moved to Dallas, Texas, bringing with him a passion for community engagement and cultural preservation. In 2024, Khesraw joined Afghan Unity DFW, quickly becoming a vital contributor to the organization. Through his tireless efforts, strong leadership, and genuine commitment, he has served as a catalyst for positive change—strengthening cultural ties, encouraging intergenerational inclusion, and inspiring collaboration within the Afghan diaspora community.

Samier Saif

Board Member, Afghan Unity DFW | Technology Professional | Youth Engagement Advocate.
Samier Saif is a young Afghan American professional with a background in technology, strategic planning, and organizational development. Saif has been working in senior managerial positions for prominent business consulting firms. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Texas at Dallas and a master’s from Hult International Business School. Born in the United States, Saif brings a unique generational perspective to the Afghan community, with a strong commitment to empowering the next wave of Afghan Americans. In 2024, Samier joined the board of Afghan Unity DFW, where he actively supports initiatives aimed at bridging cultural gaps and fostering leadership among youth. His passion for community engagement and innovation makes him a valuable asset to the organization’s mission of unity, inclusion, and cultural preservation.
